Precision Nutrient Management in Zero-Till Direct-Seeded Rice Influences the Productivity, Profitability, Nutrient, and Water Use Efficiency as Well as the Environmental Footprint in the Indo Gangetic Plain of India

Conventional tillage practices coupled with irrational use of fertilizer in the rice-wheat cropping system (RWCS) often leads to poor productivity, low nutrient efficiency, and cause environmental pollution. Conservation surface residue retention combination intelligent management might improve productivity efficiency water as well nutrients zero-till direct-seeded rice (ZTDSR). Keeping this mind, during kharif season 2018 2019, a trial was carried out at ICAR-IARI New Delhi investigate varying approaches following precise manner DSR. The treatments consisted soil-test-based NPK (STB-NPK) Nutrient Expert® (+LCCN) based (NE-NPK) applications, Fertilizer applied recommended dose (RDF) [120-60-40 kg/ha NPK], state (110-50-40 kg/ha) omission plot technique [i.e., STB (N0PK, NP0K & NPK0); SR NPK0) NE-(N0PK, NPK0)]. results indicated that application led 12% higher grain yield over RDF. However, NE-NPK resulted 7% 35% increase N (AEN) agronomic P (AEP) STB-NPK respectively. In contrast, AEk 24% treatment. comparison two years’ first year performed better than succeeding these respect (productivity AE) except case AEk. N2O emission treatment also significantly reduced (49%) control (no N). improved profitability by 22% Precision (PNM) increased crop yield, income, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions DSR Southeast Asia.
